Main Functions
  1. Formulation of a National Policy on Industry for the Promotion of the Industrial Sector.
  2. Acting as the Industrial Registrar of the Ministry and taking action to register all industries.
  3. Acting as a member of the Visa Recommendation Review Committee and formalization of visa recommendation process for foreign investors, executives and trainees.
  4. Acting as a member of the Import Restriction Review Committee and collaborating with the relevant agencies under the Import.

Contributing to the Formulation and Implementation of Policies related to the Industrial Sector to create a conducive business environment to strengthen and promote a globally competitive and sustainable manufacturing industrial sector in Sri Lanka.
Main Functions
  1. Facilitating Local Value Addition (LVA) process for the Automobile sector and giving Recommendation for Excise Duty Concession for the Locally Value-added Motor Vehicles.
  2. Facilitating Local Value Addition (LVA) process for the Electrical and Electronics industries and giving Recommendation for exemption from Excise Duty for the LocallyValue-added Electrical and Electronic equipment under HS Code 84 and 85.
  3. Handling the activities related to import restrictions under the Imports and Exports Control Act No. 1 of 1969.
  4. Facilitating the requests made by the industrialists to eliminate the existing anomalies in the Tariff Structure and activities related to the Tariff issues and Tariff policy matters.
  5. Working with the Ministry of Environment and UN Agencies in formulating the Environmental Policy related to the industrial development to comply with the criteria set out under the International Environmental Conventions for the promotion of favorable environmental conditions of industries.
