Samantha Kumarasinghe is a chemistry graduate from University of Peradeniya, and an alumnus of Harvard Business School, USA. He started his entrepreneurial career in 1993.
Having run industries in Sri Lanka, as well as in Bangladesh and Vietnam for over 30 years, he has ample knowledge of the role that industrialists can play in building the economy of a country.
Samantha Kumarasinghe has undergone many SME development training programmes sponsored by APO, KOICA/Colombo Plan and AOTS in several countries including Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. He is the founder Chairman of Cosmetics Manufacturers Association of Sri Lanka.
During his 30 years as an entrepreneur, he has worked as a legitimate entrepreneur, developing many new products and brands for Sri Lanka and export markets, earning valuable foreign exchange. Currently, his flagship company Natures Beauty Creations Limited and its associate companies in Sri Lanka provide employment for about 1000 Sri Lankans.
He was appointed to several Presidential Commissions and posts by Governments from 2009 to date, some of which are listed below:
• Commissioner – Presidential Taxation Commission – 2009-2010
• Member of the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka – 2012-2014
• Member of the Presidential Industrialization Commission – 2018-2019
• Member of Monetary Board of Central Bank of Sri Lanka – 2020-2021
• Member of the Customs Modernization Commission of Sri Lanka – 2020-2021
